Tentacle Holding an Object

Post by mrstupes »

Hello everyone,

I have a question on how to proprerly rig an object to a tentacle. What I have to animate is a tentacle holding a cherry. I make a simple bone chain like in the image below. Then I add a new bone at the end to just hold the cherry, and bind the cherry layer to the bone. I though this would stop the cherry from distorting with the rest of the tentacle. Is there anyway to attach a prop and have it not distort at all. The most aniamtion it would need is rotation for the secondary action.

Thank you

If the cherry is on its own layer, use layer binding.

If the cherry is on the same layer as the tentacle: select all points of it and use region binding.

Or: put the cherry far away from the tentacle, as well as its bone and re-assemble with bone offset.
