So just to get some ideas of how I want to approach a lil' animation I have in mind, I'm using a character generated from the Wizard. I have the character made, and posed where I want everything to begin (sitting on a couch). I've keyframed him standing (still needs work, but the basic is there), and I then want him to begin walking from that spot.
However, when I insert the walking animation, his whole position changes from where I placed him, down and to the left a bit. Is there a reason for this, or a way to stop this from happening?

Did you reposition the character by moving the root bone or by translating the layer? If you did the latter, then inserting the action (I'm assuming you're using the built in walk action) won't cause the character to move. If you did the former, then you need to:
1) Go to the frame where the character is in the correct position.
2) Select the root bone.
3) In the timeline, copy the "Selected Bone Translation" key (red circle).
4) Paste the key in every frame of the walk cycle where there's an existing translation key (there should be 5 frames).
You should see your character pop into position as you paste each key.
This is what I came up with based on your description. If you furnish more details, maybe there's a different solution.

I'm willing to bet this was indeed the issue, I did use the root bone to position him, since it was right after a bone animation, getting him to stand from a sitting position.
