Well thanks to forum member Ewan Grantham, I've got a project to work on. So I'm finally producing some animation, instead of trying to sort out my work-flow.
Most of it was pretty intuitive, but I need to fine tune the timing a little.
It seems that her left leg is longer that the right one. Is that an intentional effect?. The up and down movement when the leg cross the vertical of the hip should be symmetrical for each leg.
Yeah, I know. I'd have had to rework the model a bit to fix it, so for a test run it was good enough. The perspective of the original drawing didn't translate as well as I thought for the walk cycle.
For a first time walk cycle you did really good(much much better than my first walk cycle) but in the beginning it's generally not a good idea to use a complicated character model because it creates unnecessary distractions. You're better off using a very simple model(or even stick figure) so you can focus on the mechanics of animation instead of worrying about making things pretty. Honestly I didn't take my advice when I first started, but a simple character model makes it a lot easier to practice and make changes.

Yeah, I know, but I'm trying to kinda fast track this for a project. That's why I included the turn and wave. Like I said, it's also an animatic for an actual project.
Still, I think it could benefit from some tweaking.
The character rises upward as her body passes her straight up-and-down closer leg--which is good. But the character does not bounce upward when she passes her far leg. This strikes me as odd. The effect makes it seem as if she is wearing a highheel shoe on one foot and not the other. Imagine her wearing the shoe on the closer foot and watch the movie and you'll probably see what I mean.
Also, the chest bounces strangely, like one half is in a bra, one half isn't.
And, lastly, when she turns to the side, her right thigh is thicker than her left.
Yeah, I know all of that. Basically I just did enough on this to learn what to watch out for. I would have fixed all this, but I'm already working toward the finished character.
I probably won't post the finished character since it's part of an ongoing project.
