Halloween animation!

Post by Dadoo »

I know this is quite a simple animation, but I like how it turned out.

LOL, I loved it, very dynamic and they almost look alive, well done!

Was it real footage or did you add the motion in Anime Studio?

I came up with all the motions on my own based on the feel of the song and what I know about do-wop music!

I meant the background, is it real footage or a still image that you rocked in Anime Studio?

OH! LOL! No. That's just my office. Those pumpkins are actual artificial foam pumpkins. The faces were projected onto them. So, what you are seeing is real footage of my office. I shot video of the projection so everyone could see how the effect looked. Hope that answers your question. :-)

Since there were no actual movements other than the AS stuff, I think a photo of the 3 pumpkins would have been better. At least for rendering times. If you wanted to record the pumpkins like you did you could of moved them a few degrees left and right for a few frames and moved them back for some profile fx. But as it is, its very entertaining and I liked it.
Sorry for bad animation

Actually, the projection is SUPPOSED to be used with real or artificial pumpkins as seen in the video. This is the same way Disney does the singing Jack-o-Lanterns in the Haunted Mansion during Halloween. Pretty sure they are using AS for the animation as well.

I think sbtamu was suggesting instead of using a video of static pumpkins you could have used a single image and wiggled it in ASP.

The video footage didn't have any movement other than camera and the same could have been achieved with a single image with much quicker render times that is all.

Oh I liked it too

I see what you're saying, and it's a good idea. BUT, the effect wouldn't have looked as good without using an actual projector on the pumpkins. There is a certain glare and coloring that can only be achieved by projecting the animation. I also shot this live because I wanted the client to see EXACTLY how the effect worked. Hope that makes sense.
