Hey rplate! there is a lot of point motion in this animation! Great job!!
You have a very particular use of Anime Studio. I think that, since it is a rotoscoping animation, you loose some degree of freedom to preform the expresion and movement that you could want. But don't worry. if you are happy with it... do it!.
Anyway the short is funny!! Use dynamite to teletransport them is a silly but funny idea!!!.
I did not understand nothing of the conversation (sorry). Only the moment when he lose his hand. Perhaps the conversation have something interesting that adds more to the animation that I have loose.
It is good contribution rplate. Cheers!!

Actually rotoscoping helped me in performing some expressions I needed. For example, when I zoom to a close view of Capt Kirk talking I filmed my own face doing the dialog so I could get the mouth and facial expression for the close up cut away.
Losing freedom is not the issue with rotoscoping, keeping the animation figure smooth and consistant is the real issue. Plus it takes an enormous amount of time and patience. I found AS to be frustrating at times as I moved points around it would then distort previous frames that I drew. AS does not do a very good job of tweening those points. I had a whole lot of tweaking and redoing frames.
I basically wanted to submit a rotoscoping animation to make us aware of how AS can do complicated full body turn arounds and realistic body movements. If I had more time I would have tried to smooth it out a bit more.
I also set up some of the animations in Poser and exported as a 2 color greyscale movie to rotoscope.
I read a lot on the internet about rotoscope use in movies, such as Polar Express, with Tom Hanks. Rotoscoping is quite in demand and is much more involved than using image puppets etc.
It was a fun experience for me and I hope it contributes to the overall experience of the Anime Studio users as well.
I never used switches in the animation, I just turned visual off and on as needed. Or I pulled vector points off screen view.
Again thanks for your input. I don't seem to get much of that.
Re: rplate's entry for the animation contest.
It seems I was unaware that dot mac only allows me so much data transfer.rplate wrote:I thought I already posted my entry. But can't find it anywhere.
and I recieved this email today.
"Dear .Mac Member,
Please be aware that you've exceeded 90% of your .Mac data transfer quota for the current period.
At the current rate you may exceed your quota, especially if you have received this email towards the start of a two-week monitoring period (the 1st or the 16th of the month).
If this happens, access to your site(s) will be turned off."
So if my link above is not available that's the reason why.
Perhaps bupaje will post my entry tomorrow on the youTube group site.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
This is a surprise to me. I guess I should have read the fine print.

EDIT:
new link now works.
bupaje put a new link up for me. Thanks
However some of my other links won't work until I get reinstated by Dot Mac on the 16th of the month.

Yes, that 1 GB bandwidth cap per month is a bitch. That's why most dot Mac user look elsewhere for hosting their videos. If you don't mind the slow access (and it seems you don't, since you're using slow dot Mac), OurMedia.org is a free alternative, which gives you almost unlimited bandwidth.
Of course, you could also try to limit the file size of your movie by compressing it more, use a smaller width and height, and/or use H.264 (and freak out some Windows users, because they don't have the latest video codecs on their system).
