Script to slave "z" depth of multiple layers?

There is a great script I use for slaving switch layers. I use it all the time.

I was wondering how difficult it would be to create a layer script that would slave multple layers position in the z axis? Or it it already exists?

I have two layers that need to change layer order (forearm, hand) using the z axis to bring them in front and behind the body, the other hand etc. It isn't that big a deal to do this by hand but it would be fun to have a script for it.

I seem to recall something like this a long time ago but considering the key word "layer" I use for a search I get so many results it is hard to track it down... if it exists at all.
