Laptops with digital pens

I'm thinking of getting a new laptop that uses a digital pen, perhaps a Yoga.
I'm currently using a desktop with a Wacom tablet.
I'm assuming the digital pen is different than using a pen stylus on a touch laptop.
Would the digital pen activate the menus and work as my Wacom tablet does using Moho?
And will the cursor show up on an external monitor?
