Can anyone tell teach me how to use the Action shortcut?

Post by Panha »

Hi everyone, ever since I use Moho, I have never been able to assign the shortcut key for action in this picture. Honestly, first I thought it would be something related to shortcut key that can be assigned to action and help apply the action quickly when need. However, I tried adding key (and also with ctrl, alt, or shift) but nothing change. Can anyone tell me how to use it or what it is for? 😁

The shortcuts only work as you play from the Timeline.

The feature is intended for 'live' performance capture. Personally, I don't think it's a very practical way to animate a scene. Maybe if you're working with very simple rigs, but it's probably not going to look very good.

I am sorry, but can you explain more about it. What do you mean by play from the timeline, and live performance capture? ❤️😁

Yeah it's the kind of idea I love but I have never used. Maybe because I keep forgeting its existence. But I think it could be handy.

It works like this. You asign a button to an action, for example the letter b to the action "blink". Then you play your animation normally and you push the letter b whenever you feel like you want the blink to happen, and moho inserts the action in that frame of the timeline.

If you have a particularly long shot where there is something that happens sometimes but doesn't need to be timed precisely, this can save you time. Blinking may be a bad example, because I like to time it perfectly, but it could be useful for other things for example background stuff like a blinking light in a creepy scenario, or stuff like that.

Ah I see, it's a bit strange to me because I never thought that Moho would have that kind of feature since it seems like unpredictable. But this must great in what you have described. I'll try it again. Thank you very much.

Ok, I'm following here and it's good to receive this type of information, I knew what it was, but I didn't know how it worked.

So I had an idea here: Everything we do from this is recorded in keyframes, right? If we had a script that did the automatic clear animation document when it reached the end of the timeline or at a specific frame, we could record an animation again. By putting a green background for chroma, we can use Moho to make interactive animations in a live, with simple animations, such as waving, blinking or making expressions, right?

This would be something like having a PNGTuber inside Moho.
An old guy [since 1983] who was raised in front of the TV.
Passionate about animation, after getting old, he decides to make it his hobby.

I share tutorials, reviews, tips and tricks from this vast world of animation on my channel.

Think of it as live puppetry for Moho, controlled by pressing buttons...kind of like a MIDI performance.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make the feature sound useless. It's not useless but probably limited by how smoothly Moho can play back a project. This is what I meant by maybe requiring a simple rig.

To be honest, I haven't tried animating a character this way. If anyone tries this feature with a full-character rig, please let me know how it goes. Just curious. :D
