i'm new to moho and i'm playing around with text. It was a bit confusing at first, since it's not quite like most text editors, so I wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly.
As far as I can tell, you insert text into a "vector layer", but you don't create a shape out of it? I tried using the create shape tool on the text I created, and it was still visible, but it looked all funky. Is this correct?
Also, the font size seems only to be related to scaling the text like any other layer. So if I have two separate layers of text, how do I get them the exact same font without just "eye-balling" it?
Thanks

oh yeah, two other things I forgot to ask:
How do you edit text after you've already entered it? I couldn't figure out how to get back into the text dialog without it adding the edited text right on top of the original text.
And also, how do you enter multiple lines of text, like an entire paragraph. It appears to only give you enough room for the one line. Do you really have to create them as separate layers for each line?
Sorry for so many questions.

Inserted text in Moho automatically goes through a "convert to curves" process - you don't get editable text.
The Create Shape (fill and outline) tool should work with text - what font are you using?
Text is usually created with the current fill and outline settings (you can change them before hitting OK in the Insert Text box), so you might prefer the Select Shape tool instead if you want to just change the fill and outline.
It's easiest if you tick the option "create one fill", unless you want some letters a different colour or you want to do something with overlapping letters.
To scale both layers together, create a group layer, drag the two text layers into it to make them children of the group layer, then scale the group layer.

Multiple lines - separate layers are not required, but separate inserts (creating separate objects) are.
Moho text is best for when you want to animate it like a character - a word crawling along like a caterpillar, a sentence flapping it's words like wings, individual letters bouncing down steps with squash& stretch, or the letter O lipsynching like a mouth.
Some other text effects are best composited in with your video editor.

As I understand it:darthstephen wrote:so i can turn text into a shape...would this be like making a symbol?
Once you've inserted the text, it's just like any other vector layer - as long as you don't do something to warp the layer (no point animation or bone-point binding, only entire layer animation or bone-layer binding), and the little red dot stays beside the layer symbol in the Layers window, the entire vector layer should be treated as a symbol in SWF export.
On the other hand, if you do some sort of point warping, the layer is no longer a symbol (the little red dot disappears).
This is not specific to text, it holds for any vector layer.
