Error -2023

Post by Spiro »

Hi! I had problem, a few minutes ago I was working and suddenly it crashed, I open again to recover the file and it crashed with blue screen, all good with that.
But when I restart my computer and re open Moho, it says: "A fatal error occurred loading the application. Reinstall this application to correct the problem. (Error -2023)
I reinstalled it, but the same error appears. I uninstalled again and delete every folder of Moho and Lost Marble that I found (maybe I miss some folder), but the same error still appearing.

Somebody now something about this?

I solved it, best solution was to search the word "moho" in the searcher of C:/ and delete everything from Lost Marble, Moho and Smith Micro (that I had from previous version)

Hope this works in the future for somebody :)

Just a guess but maybe the config files are corrupted and you need to delete those manually? Before you do anything I suggest making a system restore point or backup just to be safe.

The Moho configs are here...

C:\ProgramData\Lost Marble\Moho\13

You might need to set Folders Options to show hidden folders to reveal the ProgramData folder.

First try this:

Before deleting anything, copy the files from that folder to a folder on your desktop, just in case this doesn't work and you need to copy the files back.

Now, delete everything from that folder except the the Moho13.lic.prefs file. You'll need to keep the Moho13.lic.prefs file if you don't want to lose an activation.

After deleting the files, launch Moho.

If that doesn't work, delete those files again, and then uninstall Moho and reinstall it. Then copy the Moho13.lic.prefs file back into that folder. Now launch Moho.

Hopefully one of these steps will fix the error.

Ah! Glad you got it fixed. I'm guessing the search found the corrupted file.

If you had to reactivate, you might have lost one of your activations. If so, and if that's important to you, I'd get in touch with Lost Marble.

Yes, I have to reactivate Moho with my previous serial, I didn't know I lost activations with that, being really honest, I don't know if that it's terrible or not, but if that it's possible to be fixed, I would be glad :)

Re: lost activations, it's not a catastrophic issue, just something to be aware of.

When you buy Moho, Lost Marble gives you three activations, which means you can install it three times or on up to three computers. For me, for example, this is useful when I need to run Moho on my desktop at home and on my laptop when on the road.

If you happen to lose an activation (like when a computer dies or a critical part gets replaced,) I believe you can request to get the lost activation back. It used to be that you could reset this yourself by logging into a Moho account but I don't know if that's still the case.
