I have Moho 12.5 on a 3 year old iMac.
I now primarily use an M1 MacMini, and an M1 MacBook Air. I would love to use Moho on these devices, but I can find no info on whether Moho is optimized yet, or even compatible with Apple Silicon chips.
I've been all over the website, and I offered the question to the LostMarble team vis the contact us link. Twice. But when I submit the contact query, I get no confirmation, and the whole query I typed simply disappears.
That was more than few days ago, and I have yet to get any reply, so either the contact link is not working for me, or they are simply backed up in responding. Either way, I can't get any answer on Moho and M1 Macs.
I'm eager to spend my money on the upgrade if Moho is optimized for the M1 Macs. If it isn't, I can't afford to purchase an upgrade that may or may not work as it may not be up to date with my hardware.
Does anyone know if the latest Moho release is optimized for M1 Macs, or even at the very least, compatible enough to run without issue on M1 Macs?
Thanks.

Don't know if optimized, but Moho 13.5 does support (and gain performance improvements from) M1 chips. At least in the demos I've seen, as I don't own a Mac.

I don't have a mac. But didn't Moho website let you download and install the latest version at try it for free for 30 days or so?

Thank you! Even though I read the minimum requirements at least 6 times over, I only just saw that it does mention that 13.5 is compatible with Apple Silicon chips. It's just laid out as an asterisk note which displays as a last line under the Windows min requirements, so I never saw it.synthsin75 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 1:25 am Don't know if optimized, but Moho 13.5 does support (and gain performance improvements from) M1 chips. With that, I just went ahead and bought the upgrade.
An amazing speed boost! Moho 13.5 on my M1 laptop opens in about 4 seconds. (Moho 12.5 on my 3 year old iMac takes at least 3 times that just to open!)

Honestly, I didn't even consider this. Probably fear from old school thinking where I didn't want to risk downloading multiple versions. I have been reading over the manual once I found that link, and once I realized it is at least compatible with M1 chips, I just outright bought the upgrade. I've only just started to play around with it, but so far, I am loving it! Thanks.

Hi! I just added that asterisk yesterday, so it makes sense you didn't see it beforedidjbusker wrote: ↑Sat Sep 11, 2021 9:47 amThank you! Thank you for pointing this out (and thanks, again, Wes for the advice).

I really look forward to getting to dive into Moho now far more than I ever did as the last version, or as Anime Studio for decade(s) previous.
My current project is a Halloween projection mapping with the theme Mutant Plants From Mars. Music is done, and the video elements will be a mix of things- some assets I made years ago in Anime Studio, and some newly filmed stuff, and lots of composite stuff. I already bought the Space pack add-on as soon as I saw it had a meat eating plant in it. Boy will that asset speed up my work, and it looks great! Plus, even though there may be far fewer export video codecs from Legacy versions, I;m glad I heard that the 4444 versions tend to include alpha, so I was able to make my first test export with transperancies to bring into Final Cut Pro. Worked like a charm!
Thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks!!!! This newest Moho update is going to be fun!
Re: M1 Macs and Moho?
I found that when exporting to ProRes 4444 from Moho (with other apps it's fine), the alpha channel seems "dirty". I just don't get sharp, clean transparency out of Moho using ProRes. Moho also seems to mess up color profiles (on a Mac with P3 display) when exporting in any movie format, and results in washed out colors.didjbusker wrote: ↑Sat Sep 11, 2021 2:35 pm I;m glad I heard that the 4444 versions tend to include alpha, so I was able to make my first test export with transperancies to bring into Final Cut Pro. I generally export to PNG image sequence now, which has perfect alpha channels, color seems fine, too. And I can save a ton of render time, if I have to fix a few frames, because then I can just export only the altered frames (Apple Motion can handle image sequences as if it were a movie, and with QuickTime player you can open an image sequence as a movie and then save it into ProRes format with proper alpha channel and colors, if needed).
