Freehand and shapes

Post by namesash »

hey animatorz I'm a new guy :)

My question is why is it when I draw(freehand) somethin with more than one line I can't make it a shape to fill it in. Do I have to do the figure all in one stroke? I tried drawing a tree and I picked up the pen more than once but thought I closed all the lines but I couldn't make it a shape. I tried doin it in one stroke and it worked fine, but I don't like havin to do everythin in one stroke b/c I kinda like my figures to look rough...

thx

Sure you can use multiple strokes.

However, Moho uses vector illustration concepts, not paint and pain-bucket concepts.
All the strokes that make up a fillable shape must be welded into a closed loop before the shape can be filled - see Tutorial 2.1 for more about welding.

Think of making a lead/wire skeleton for a leadlight/stained-glass window.
If the lines that make up the lead/wire skeleton are not welded together, the pieces of coloured glass would fall out. Only when the wire/lead shapes are welded together do they hold the glass pieces in place - in Moho, when your strokes are welded together they can hold fillable shapes in place.

Regards, Myles.

Great but how do I see where exactly I need to do welds? For example, say I got a shape that LOOKS closed but somewhere there are some points that aren't welded, eventhough I had auto weld checkmarked. Anyway to see them?

Try Scripts>Other>Autoweld. Usually does the trick.
