Adding soundtrack

I've been using, and promoting this excellent software for what seems like years. This forum has been extremely useful and now I'm posting for the first time.

I'm into a project in which I'm using the systems lip sync. I've cut the audio I want in Quick time. Everything works fine but I don't need to audio straight away but when selected it automaticaly goes to the begining of the time line. Is there an easy way to 'shove' it along to the part of the animation it's needed.

I've gone thru most of the previous posts but now have 'post blindness'.
