How to add a keyframe using a keyboard shortcut

Post by peter wassink »

my question is in the title.

How to add a keyframe using a keyboard shortcut.

i could not find a way to custom assign key's in the program.
Now i'm wondering is my aproach wrong ?
Shouldn't adding keyframes be one of the most important actions in an animation software, so why is there no short cut?

There's a freeze pose, but that's probably not what youre looking for, you're looking for a shortcut key to add a single keyframe. When you move anything that isnt in frame zero, it automatically creates a keyframe.

I'm guessing you want control over adding and removing keyframes?

Oh i think, that might be exactly what i want.... off course freeze pose!
apple F right? thanks Zekewolf

i want to block out my animation and prevent all that automatic inbetweening
(as a feature request.....It would be nice if this auto inbetweening could be switched off all together, call it manual mode, would make some types of animation much easier.)

I did find a bug... i tried selecting everything and then select "add keyframe" (from the menu ) i then get the question if i want to also do all the subbblayers when i say yes ASP crashes.

i am on version 10.1.1 i should add.

Yes ctrl F on windows or command F on macs. You have to do it BEFORE you make the next post, otherwise you have to manually tweak it in the motion graph. I have 11.2 so far I havent experienced any major bugs if at all.

11.2 has frame by frame animation now so maybe consider upgrading if you can.

For now freeze pose is the best I can think of you just have to time it properly. Its the closest you can get to what you want.

It's called step interpolation.
