Help me understand some basic concepts

Post by karlisss »

Hallo there!
This is my first post. I am animator and mostly all my films i maded in flash (i still work with macromedia flash5!!!)
From videos i realy like concept of supercool brushes in ASP, but main thing, witch i dont understad is:
1. Can i make frame by frame animation in simple way? (In flash i can press F6- coppy frame and move with mouse object a little bit and then agen F6 etc)
How this workflow can be done in ASP? Cos as i saw there is a ton of layers and keyframes.

2. Is there a way, how to put all objects in one layer? Cos as i understand every element, hand, mouth, eye, eyeball etc. Have its own layer. As i see, its for automatic tweening purposes, but what about if i need "stop motion workflow"?

3. Puppet rigs. Do i need create rigg for every major pose, front view, back view, profile, or i can create one supercomplex pupet, for all movie?

4. Is it possible to create puppet, where face is changed not by tween, but by different solid objects, depending "how far" i move slider (or how to call this thing witch i move outside puppet for coresponding elements)

Asking this, cos i miss some feetures in flash5 (later version rigging and frame workflow is discusting) and ASP would be afordable option.
Also synfig is very alien, but toonboom for millionaires.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Depends on what you need the rig to do. No single 2D rig does everything a 3D rig would.
4. In AS, smart bones serve this purpose.

Spend some time and watch videos. Try to do what is in each video. Use the search feature on the forum for anything you do not understand. Their is a pdf manual that can be confusing, because just like Flash, AS has its own way of doing things.

The one major advantage AS has over Flash is that it's business model is to make new versions with new improvements that the users will pay for.
