moving or copying a multi-layer animated section

Post by Tony5910 »

Hi, I've got a section of animation that I want to repeat later in the movie. It's got lots of moving layers in it. Other than going through each layer ONE AT A TIME and copying and pasting keyframes to another point on the timeline, is there an easier way to do this? I'm using Anime Studio Pro 9.5. Thanks!!

if you need to have other action interleaved I'd duplicate the AS file and keep the "standard" stuff but with the two separate action items in the two files. If not just keep the one set of animations and ...

If you're planning on using a compositor - such as Premiere you either export once and include twice (straight copy) or export the two separate files and put them together in premiere.

if you're using AS only, then you could export a movie and include that in AS.

In either case, make sure you export using a lossless codec...

[edit} - just read your other post on export quality... so assuming you ARE using premiere and PNG sequence the only real question is to do with other actions interleaved. If it's easier to copy / duplicate / edit the AS file, I'd do that... otherwise, you have the option of exporting in multiple passes -- so, e.g. export a foreground sequence and a background sequence - then make the interleaved actions and export those; then in premiere stack them in separate tracks.

I'm having a similar issue, although slightly different purpose I think. I'm trying to animate a speech animation, with 4 different mouth positions in sequence. So far I've done visible/invisible with each layer and the effect is fine, but I wanted to repeat the sequence for a duration of time. Will I need to just export the individual motions as video then stick them together elsewhere, or is it possible to repeat sections of keyframes from multiple layers at once? Naturally as it's mimicking speech I need a few mouth motions (albeit not many, it's a basic cartoon) and I need to be able to add a particular set at a particular point to match the audio. Any ideas?

Why don't you use a switch layer for the mouth positions? Much easier, and you can make a cycle from that.

It's also possible to make a cycle from a visible/invisble sequence. You need a minimum of 3 keys for this:
v - i - v - and the last one is set to cycle.
