Bones following paths

How do I get a character with many bones to follow a path? Like a train following tracks from a birds eye view.

Perhaps try breaking the train down into separate layers, one for each car. Then have each car follow the path. and then bring up the layer window for each car, and turn on "rotate to follow path".

I can't find it right now, but somewhere online there is a tutorial for ASP showing a chinese dragon made of small sections, like the old Centipede video game from the 80s. It uses follow path for each section of the dragon, but I don't know whether the sections are all in the same bone layer or not. No reason why they couldn't be.

Maybe somebody else here knows the tutorial.
