Preview Animation File

Hi,

When you generate a Preview Animation, where is ASP writing the file? I want to save an animation with the bones and controls visible. I know I can do this with a screen recorder but I really just want the file ASP is creating.

Nevermind, I found it. It's located in the User Content's Render Cache.

You can access the Render Cache by selecting Help > Open Custom Content Folder.

Quick question: Is there a way to increase the resolution of the Preview Animation render?

The Preview Animation resolution seems to default to a fairly low res 856 x 488 and I don't see an interface to make any adjustments. I'm guessing the answer is 'no' but I would like to my preview size to be at least 720p.

Normally, I would simply record the viewport using screen capture software but I don't have access to that at work so I'm hoping I can do this entirely inside ASP.

Hi,
The Preview Animation resolution actually captures the pixels directly from the workspace, so the video created will be as big as your workspace is at the moment you record it. So there shouldn't be any difference if you use a screen recorder.
Now, the Preview video quality can't be setup in AS, so in that case a screen recording software can make a better job.

Ok, that's what I thought, however the captured animation preview is at a much lower resolution than the current workspace resolution--it looks like half the viewport size or even less. I notice that when I make the viewport very small, it will render 1:1, but if I expand the viewport to maximum, it seems fixed at 853 x 488 or so, which is quite a bit less than what's actually on-screen in ASP.

Edit: I just did a screen cap of the viewport to get the actual pixel size and it's 2134 x 1275, so the Animation Preview is rendering at a significantly lower resolution.

I filed a report but thanks for responding and for looking into this Victor. I'll submit an example of the resolution difference with some generic content.
