Bug, normal or new feature???

Post by Toontoonz »

I was working on Tutorial 2.1 "Welding" trying to see if I could find a different way to use a lot of shapes in a drawing and not get distortions when I boned it. Figured Moho´s welding feature could work.

I followed the tutorial creating the same object. What I got was weirdness.
See 4 screen shots.

Number 1 screen shot: Round bottom brown shape with 2 width black line.
Crown above it was yellow - it had a line around it, but I un-enabled it. I used the DELETE EDGE tool to remove the bottom of the crown.

Number 2 screen shot: Welded right bottom point to right side of round shape. Bottom shape turned yellow - everything got a thick black line around it.

Number 3 screen shot: welded left bottom point of crown to bottom round shape. Everything is now yellow with thick black line. Note brown section in bottom yellow shape.

Number 4 screen shot: I added bones and moved everything back and forth. Brown shape moved and grew....note how bottom of brown shape makes a directly line from two points of crown I welded on.

Try Tutorial 2.1 and see if you get different results. Maybe I did something wrong. I tried it with welding with lots of shapes and got lots of really strange results. Is this a bug, normal or new feature???

I tried the tutorial and made it exactly as you did, and I had the same result as you. Then I discovered that when I welded the crowns second point ( I had auto fill on) the yellow shape was created in the crown and in the whole head but the brown head shape was still there under somewhere, so I used the delete shape tool and deleted the yellow shape and I found the brown intact under, then I created a new shape in the crown and everything was okey.
Then I made the tutorial once again, this time with auto fill off and I made the colors in the crown after welding and I had no problems.

There seems to be something strange going on when welding a shape that has been filled with color and then (without deleting the shape) using the delete edge tool and weld, it's like the shape is still there but not visible? maybe I don't know.........hmmm

Yes, I noticed some things along what you saw - looks like Moho makes masks over masks or something.

Try making a shape with multiple welded shapes in it and see what happens. And then color each shape and add a couple of bones and move it around.
I had some really strange things happening.

And note the view in the main screen you see is not necessarily how it looks rendered.

I think that could be the trick - no colors or lines allowed when making shapes to be welded. It must be done afterwards.

Check out this forum to see how I could weld 12 shapes together, bone it and move things without any overlapping problems.
