Slow fps during preview on Anime Studio Pro 9

Post by The Singing Walrus »

Hey all,

I'm having trouble with the fps while using ASP 9 on my mac pro 3,1. The best I get is 10 fps with minimal layers, then it drops to 7-8 fps when using more layers. I'm baffled, because my computer should be performing way better. On my 2008 macbook I get about 16-17 fps for the same file that gets me 8 fps on the mac pro. Here are the specs on the mac pro:

2008 Mac Pro 3,1 2.8 GHz 8 core
14 GB of RAM
ATI HD 5770 graphics card

I have no problem rendering from this computer - it's actually pretty fast. And I also have no problems with any other programs.

Any rough ideas what might be causing this problem?

Thanks!

Are you using any AVI uncompressed videos in the animation? Those will really slow a computer down.
Sorry for bad animation

Very large images or video layers slow down AS during preview. I always rely on the rendered video.
AS 9.5 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
AS 11 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
Moho 13.5 iMac Quadcore 2,9GHz 16GB OS 10.15

No large images or videos in the animation - I'm only using layers that were created within AS.

Could it be my display? I can't figure out why it would be so much faster on my macbook, which isn't nearly as powerful as my mac pro.

Thanks for the replies
