Freeze Pose?

Post by djwaterman »

Currently doing some animation in ASP, and loving it. I watched a Victor tutorial recently where he was making a point to Freeze the Pose whenever he changed the pose. What exactly is happening when I freeze pose? is it putting down a key for every key-able bone whether it's used it or not, or just the ones you are using?

Yes that's it you key all the bones with freeze. This is good for pose to pose animation. It just means that the pose on that frozen frame will not get altered by any changes to previously unkeyed bones in your next key pose.

... but take care. Freeze WON'T give you keyframes for bone translate or scale if you haven't used them... so a "freeze" on (say) frame 25 where all you've done is bone rotations, then a scale on frame 30 will mean that the scale runs from 1 to 30 not 26 to 30...

To have no problems about that, I always create keyframes in frame one for every bone in Rotation, Scale and Translation channels. To me, that's the safest way to work.
