Bone Manipulation Not Working

Hi guys

I've been trying to set up a blink action for my character using the smart bones. I've been following the Setting Up Eyes for a Detailed Head Turn by Incredible Tutorials but I've come across a huge problem which is driving me insane.

I create the bone, set the dial, open up the Actions and create a new action but as soon as I do the the manipulate bone tool switches off so I'm completely unable to set the dial so I can use it. I've tried clicking on mainstream and going back to it, I've started over several times with the bones but nothing seems to work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Use the transform bone tool to rotate the bone. The manipulate bone tool keys all the bones in the chain, which would mess up smartbone actions, and is why the tool is disabled.

in the video the bone manipulation tool was working and is required to set the dial for the action.If I use the transform bone tool it only stretches the bone and moves the whole bone including the bone constraints rendering it useless plus on the tutorial they use the manipulation tool and not the transform tool.

It's an older version of AS in that video. The new transform bone tool rotates when you grab the middle of the bone or near it (not either of the control dots at the ends). Check the user manual to learn how to use the tool.
