PHOTOSHOP AND ASP COMBINED FOR AMAZING EFFECTS
In this video I demonstrate the possibilities of combining
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP with ANIME STUDIO PRO 8 SOFTWARE to achieve some unique productions and also makes it possible to do some one of of kind collaborations. This is a concept that's not widely used in animation because they're both different types of software with their own special purposes. Combining the two programs have made it possible for me to do some wild collaborations with YouTube and internet friends from across the globe in addition to making it possible for me to use all the drawings I do on paper also. This concept also works excellent with photographs, which I utilize on a continuous basis. Special thanks to all the folks that have collaborated with with on my videos that use this unique concept and help make them so cool.
Software used to make this video: is ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 7, ANIME STUDIO PRO 8, and POWER DIRECTOR 12

Fun stuff. I agree whole heartedly, I use Photoshop with AS and love the results. It's really amazing what can be done with them together

thanks for checking out my video and leaving comment... I love Photoshop and when you combine them with animation... WOW anything is possible..Little Yamori wrote:Fun stuff. the only draw back is those Photoshop files really tax the computer and slows it down real bad... Vector doesn't take as much processing power, but photos and BMP?
on a PC? oh my Goodness!!!. Mac is way better for graphics but it cost a whole lot! lol This process gives me the opportunity to collaborate with other artist friends,co-workers, and music creators and this is what my videos are all about.. helping other folks Shine by showcasing their artistic work. Kids love seeing their artwork in animation form too and get so excited. Sometimes we have to look deeper into a video to get the real meaning of why it was created. I don't know everything about Photoshop or anime studio but I keep my mind open to things that haven't done before. Thanks for stopping by... it's really appreciated. Peace out!
Re: PHOTOSHOP AND ASP COMBINED FOR AMAZING EFFECTS
Pictures make rendering take what seems like an eternity, but the end result is worth it. Nice video showing the possibilities of Anime Studio outside of simple vector stuff.

Re: PHOTOSHOP AND ASP COMBINED FOR AMAZING EFFECTS
Thanks for checking out my video, Danimal. There's one important factor in using this concepts and that is you have to keep your anime studio file and Photoshop pics in the same location all the time, let's say you have a folder called UFO , which has your Photoshop pics in it on the (DESKTOP), now you open up ASP and import those Photoshop pics from the UFO folder and work on your animation.. once you decide to "SAVE AS" , you have to save your project back in that UFO folder on THE (DeskTop) because that's where your original Photoshop pics are., because once you go back and open up that anime studio file project again you were working on yesterday anime studio looks for those Photoshop pics in the original place you put them the first time ( DESK TOP) only. if you saved your anime studio UFO project... let's say, on a flash drive instead of where the the original Photoshop pics are( DESK TOP)... you just separated your Anime studio project from the original place where the Photoshop pics were located and now ASP can't see the original pics you imported the first time and instead it shows a square shape in place instead because it don't know where the pics are. Photoshop and raster images don't stay embedded in anime studio projects when you import them there.. it only holds them in your project while you're working on it. once you save and close ASP it puts the Photoshop and raster pics back in it's original location until you open your ASP project back up again and then it retrieves it again. I learned that the hard away! ASP wont search your PC for those original pics if you don't keep the Anime studio project file you're working on and the imported pics together in same place at all times.Danimal wrote:Pictures make rendering take what seems like an eternity, but the end result is worth it. Re: PHOTOSHOP AND ASP COMBINED FOR AMAZING EFFECTS
Really good I combine all sorts of programs really I use more then photoshop and anime studio sometimes... But I have to agree.. But my only disagreement is saying it takes forever unless you have a MAC. Which is not true... It all depends on your processor and video card... Like this my set up:
Intel Core i7-4770K processor
3.90GHz, 8MB L3 Cache
16GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 32GB)
The Gaming Desktop PC with 16GB Memory and 2TB Hard Drive gives you the power to handle most power-hungry applications and tons of multimedia work
2TB SATA hard drive + 120GB SSD
Store 1,300,000 photos, 571,000 songs or 1,053 hours of HD video and more
12x Blu-ray and DVD-RW combo drive
Watch HD movies and read and write CDs and DVDs in multiple formats on the Black SLC6000 (Monitor Not Included) CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme Desktop with Intel Core i7-4770K Processor
10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet
Connect to a broadband modem or wired broadband router with wired Ethernet
NVIDIA GeForce GTX770 Graphics
With 2GB of dedicated video memory
4 x USB 3.0 ports, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 3 x audio jacks, 1 x RJ-45 Ethernet port, 1 x D-Sub port, 1 x DVI-D port, 1 x HDMI port, 2 x PS/2 ports
2 x PCI Express (x1) slots, 2 x PCI Express (x16) slots, 2 x PCI slots, 3 x external 5.25" bays, 4 x internal 3.5" bays
Windows 8 also the Intel Core i7-4770K Processor is also liquid cooled to keep my CPU running cool during intense workloads.
See I have a build like this since I am creating a video game in Unreal Engine 4 as well and I can run it on Epic settings and I can run every game on highest setting. So basically I could export and render everything very very quick! It just depends on your PC build...

Re: PHOTOSHOP AND ASP COMBINED FOR AMAZING EFFECTS
you can usually cut down render time by using a video compositor such as Premiere to do the "mundane" animation on images (e.g. translate, scale, ...) and blend in the AS-generated effects (e.g. image warps, flames...). Needs planning - especially separation of images into layers and maybe use of mattes (masking) (but you'll need to do this in AS too) - but where I'm working with mostly images this is the approach I adopt. (PS can warp images - but IMO not as comprehensively as AS - so you might be able to create a fbf warp sequence in PS which can go into the compositor too).Danimal wrote:Pictures make rendering take what seems like an eternity ....

hey EHEBRANDON,
You Got 16GB Of RAM? WOW!!! You aint Playing around, Kid!!!!!! Did you build that system yourself? send it to me, Bro!!!!That's way more than my windows 8 laptop with pent. i3 processor with 4 gigs of Ram,I'm going to upgrade the ram soon...Windows operating system is what hogs up all the power... That's why everyone always says get a MAC.. Your system is set up for Gaming that's why you have so much power in the Puppy .Gamers always have the greatest toys to play with. You guys got it like that. How much did it cost for that Mean machine with labor, parts and all. Do You think your system can run with the Big Dogs (MAC)? I think the MAC Crowd will highly disagree. You just might be starting a MAC vs PC war here,Man

Are you working with MAC or PC. Cast your vote on which one is the best for graphics,I like my PC.. A lot of available software... and it's Cheap!!!! that's the magic word in my House..Cheap!!!
Even the creators of TOY STORY had to build a computer that could handle the processing power of their animation movie because there was nothing fast enough back then that could render powerful 3D graphics.

I use Power Director 12 when I'm ready to edit and add sound, titles, ETC, and then Burn final production as a HQ DVD quality Format just before I upload. I import all the .mov files after Producing in ASP.. another problem that was big was uploading to YouTube when you have only DSL at 3MB/s! What a Pain that was back in the day! it took 2 and half hours for a 5 minute video to upload , but now that I have AT&T Uverse Internet at 12MB/s it takes about 20 minute now and I know Cable internet is even faster and I know there's better video editing programs out there like ( FINAL CUT PRO X ) for Mac and ( SONY VEGA )and ( ADOBE PREMIERE) for PC but I'm on a budget. lol

It could out run a MAC a million times.... I am about to upgrade to the new Titan card!

Re: PHOTOSHOP AND ASP COMBINED FOR AMAZING EFFECTS
My cartoons use Photoshop (or GIMP) generated assets heavily. Mostly because I am BAD at drawing.
Did you know that ASP can treat PSD files with layers as switch layers? Very useful.

With Photoshop you can get by without even drawing a thing.. just find some random pics and mix and match... in my video clip where the Hotrod and corvette has silhouette people in the foreground and background in the BURN OUT scene.. you know how i did that? you know how the Sunday papers always have the sale papers in the inserts like Walmart, bestbuy and stuff? well I took photos of the models from there with my camera and then opened it in Photoshop, then silhouetted them black with paint brush tool and then sliced the arms and put them in separate layers so I can move them in ASP.. all the silhouette people in this video was done that way.. No drawing none of them.
so a lot of things can be created with no drawing skills, just using the imagination and putting them together like puzzles, I even took pics of LEGOS that kids created and animated those after I removed background and stuff. that's the tedious part... editing and removing backgrounds in Photoshop! I love the switch layer you mentioned above. it took me a while to learn all the stuff in ASP and still learning new stuff the more I use it. photos and objects can be edited to make some cool videos without drawing anything... like what I did with my cellphone pic.. I still use that cellphone as my phone so bad drawing skills ain't no problem, Bro.
next I want to mix real hand puppets with ASP, maybe video tape puppet with green screen background ( chroma key ) so background is transparent and then add a different backdrop and animated characters all around him. There are so many objects that can be animated after editing in Photoshop that you will never have to draw anything to make cool videos. Thanks for tips .
Peace.
