Gradient help!

Hi
With the gradient tool can i fade from a solid to a transparent colour. Example: Draw a circle, fill, go to style gradient then select black at 255 alpha then white a 0 alpha.

I'm not having alot luck in getting the results i want. Is this a problem with mohos gradient? or am i doing it wrong?

It's hard to say - what is the result you're trying to get? And what about your attempts don't match your desired result?
