Translate Bone walk cycle problem

Post by lilkimbo11 »

I am creating a walk cycle for my character using the Actions panel and during the 10 frame cycle I use the Translate Bone tool to give the appearance of bouncing up and down with each step. Once I insert the cycle reference into the main line the animation works but without the bounce. Is there a reason the Translate Bone tool is being omitted after the first cycle?

PS. Is there a shortcut to selecting all bones in a character, this feature would be a lot faster than selecting each bone on a particular keyframe...

It is not being omitted, it is probably not cycling back right. In the actions, select that bone and then look on the timeline to see if it is cycling back.

Also, scaling that bone would look more natural than translating it.

PS

Yes you can select all the bones by either dragging the select bone tool while holding down the left mouse key or holding the shift key down while selecting each bone.

How would I translate those selected bones onto the timeline? What I'm trying to do is select the manipulate bones for each bone on a specific keyframe. I know there is a way to select the keyframe in the timeline, I just don't know how lol.

Here it is: http://www66.zippyshare.com/v/50358271/file.html

If you insert the walk cycle into the timeline you'll see what I'm talking about after the 1st cycle is up

I can not down load it.

I would suggest using dropboxs or some other. The one you are using is too invasive and uses tracking cookies, that is why I can not down it.

Ok I got a look at the file, you just need to go back and cycle those bones back to frame 1. Do you have consolidate time line channels selected in the preferences? If so un check that in the preferences so you can see the stuff going on.

It should work if you cycle back to frame 2 as well...and it doesn't work when I set it to frame 1 either.
Do you have consolidate time line channels selected in the preferences?
Is that in Project Settings?

Go to EDIT/PREFERENCE and uncheck the box next to CONSOLIDATE TIMELINE.
Now you will see all the key frames and you should be able to cycle that one bone back.

It was already unchecked by default! But it works, I wasn't cycling all of the frames. I figured if one of the frames was set to cycle, all of them would as well. Thanks for the help!
