How do I change the transparency/alpha of an image?

Post by Hopper200456 »

Hey guys.
YES, I know I've asked tons of probably stupid questions here, but, hey, switching from AS 5 to AS 9 Pro is difficult I guess.
Anyway, so in this animation I'm working on (the Metroid one which I've asked about before.) I want to having something fade in.
But, the things I want to fade in are images imported in, not vectors. So, in short:

Is there anyway to change the alpha/transparency of an image layer?

Thanks for helping!
If for whatever reason, you need images just ask and I can provide. :)

You animate the opacity of an image layer the same way as in a vector layer.
AS 9.5 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
AS 11 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
Moho 13.5 iMac Quadcore 2,9GHz 16GB OS 10.15
Moho 14.1 Mac Mini M2 Pro OS 13.7.6

.... And how do you do that?

The way I've changed the transparency of a vector layer was my changing the alpha of the fill and outline color... But thinking about it now I realize how much of a pain that was and how I was doing it the hard way...

You need to turn on the "Allow Animated Layer Effects" in the layer properties window. Then animate the Opacity % of the image layer in the same window. This also works for any layer type.

In Pro 7 you have to render the image to see the change in opacity. A vector layer does not have to be rendered first. (I've got to get pro 9 so I'll be up to date)

I'm using Anime Studio 9 Pro, but this is good for anyone who is using 7, and looking for help! :D
