Getting started books?

I'm new to animation and i've been searching for the right animation related books to get me started and i've found many good ones which is great, however i need to know if the techniques and exercises found in books which are more geared towards traditional animation translate practically into the anime studio 9 pro style of animation? Additionally are these the right sort of books to get started with? Thanks your thoughts and advice are appreciated.

Yes, the same principles apply to all forms of animation.
The Animators Survival Kit is excellent. All of the Brian Lemay books are well worth getting too. They are available from Chromacolour in the UK...

There are many other books but probably my favourite (well, it was about the only animation book available when I started!) is Preston Blair's Cartoon Animation.

"Animator's Survival Kit" is definitely NOT for beginners. Of course it's good, but to really get something out of it you'll need to master the basic drawing and animaton techniques first.
