How do I make these "transparent" lines disappear?

Post by Hopper200456 »

Hey guys.
So, I'm working on this animation (it's Minecraft, if you can't tell. :D) and I'm wanting to give a style without lines.
But, when I turn the lines of the shapes, it looks fine while editing, but when I render it (under file>Preview) and it
looks like it shows the line at the same time doesn't. Check it out:

See what I mean? Anyway to get ride of this?

Could you please test if you get the same result when you put an outline around this shape in exactly the same colour as the fill?

Sure, let me put that together.
Where do you want me to upload the file?

Oh, good idea. I'll try this, and report back. If that doesn't work I could also try seeing if making the lines smaller does anything.
EDIT: I tried this, and it worked, but I mean, just because the lines cover up the transparent bits. I would like to find a way to fix it without this, but it all else fails, I guess I can do it this way. It's just weird why it's doing this. I don't remember setting anything to do this. :O

So, I've tried a few things but nothing seems to work. Anyone else have any other ideas? It seems to be very weird about - because some shapes will have this "effect" and some won't. And I really want it to go away, because it's kinda ruining the style of it all.

I'm not too sure how you've setup your scene. But you've inspired me to create a tutorial (still work in progress at this time).
The first thing that I noticed when I created the blocks, was that turning the 'Nearest Neighbor Sampling' option on was needed to get rid of similar pesky white lines.

Can you upload an example to a website like filedropper.com?

Thanks for the feed back! I'll try and see if I can find this 'Nearest Neighbor Sampling' and see if that's on or something.

Here is the link to the background I'm having trouble with:

Keep in mind, I'm also having the same effect on other shapes in other layers. Thanks for the help!

I had a look at your file, and I personally think this is more to do with how you've created the trees in your scene than a real problem with AS. When I draw with vectors, I tend to build up on the layers, so I start with the background/base, then add shading on top.
I've added a new background layer to the trees to show you how I would get around the problem.

There may be another way, but I think this would work in this case.

Alright, thank you. I'll use more layers next time when making backgrounds I guess! I'm just going to use the background files that you edited, is that okay with you?

Also, I looked at your tutorial and man! That's really cool! I won't be using it for backgrounds on this animation, due to the 2D style I'd like to keep, but I will defiantly be using it in the future! Thanks again for the MASSIVE help!!

yes, use that - it should help you save some time (that's why I did it)
..and good luck with your animation!
