Post by mrchris1234 »

Wild and crazy is the only way to describe my last car combat vid.of 2012. Space Aliens decided to tangle with us earth folks thinking we're PushOvers!!! but they messed with the wrong species!!! This vid features motorcycle with machine guns, combat cars with canons as well as a whole lot of Chaos!!!,

Hi mrchris,
there was enough stuff in there to have something entertaining.
Baddass aliens, cars with guns invasions, woah.
You clearly want to make films , do you mind if I pass on some advice with no intention to insult?
I hope this doesn't sound patronising, please accept my apologies if it does, I have no wish to drag you down or big-note myself.
Anyway.
In regards to the edit, first; I think though you should have got into to it quicker and kept it moving .
Try to match 'our' ( the audiences) attention span and keep each moment short and to the point, then move on to the next point, with as much variety and mood as you can through the larger piece.
Bring in major characters early and let us identify with them.
Mix up the shots, close ups and wides and look at overall colour design.
Look at the pace and compare it with the stuff that you like, not to copy but to learn the tricks of the trade.
Hope to see more stuff from, you remember, quality beats quantity :D .
I'm only saying this because you have definitely put a good effort in and show enough enthusiasm in your work to warrant encouragement.
Keep it up mrchris and thanks for posting.

I agree with what Chucky said.

Still, I found it oddly entertaining.

10 minutes of animation is always a feat.

Good job!

thanks guys for the cool advice, I have so much stuff and images unused that i could have even made this am half an hour but I just started to get exhausted. I had so many chartacters to edit, just developing creating and gather all the collaborations and then deciding on where to put what was a job in itself. a lot of my animation videos are like 3 to 4 minutes long with nothing but action, but with this one I didn't want to just rush into it. remember.. the aliens aint done yet! more stuff up there sleeve so all the advice will surely be used... so thanks yosemight and chucky.
but as far as bringing in the main characters early as my friend chuck suggested ..super heroes never just show up first... they have to come in when you think all is lost in a situation. and when they showed up all the action starts. you look at any horror or action movie in most cases the action never starts off right away. it simmers and then in so many cases in so many movies all the action happens at the end, but i brought it in the middle. it'e like eating the desert before thew meal guys i can tell you this was grueling to finish working a fulltime job, but I got it done, baby! and all is a learning experience in animation everytime I make a vid. always trying to bring something new and different than what everyone else is doing.
if it was up to me, with a good film budget and crew i could take this concept and go CRAZY... PULLING OUT ALL THE STOPS!! but we all know one guy cant do all that by himself when you have to go to work everyday. when I do some really short animation like 4 minute long or less. it's nothing but action start to finish cause that's how i like it. no talking, just straight action. I used actual photos that i took while sitting in traffic on I95 i took hundreds of pics, and photoshoped them instead of trying to be superman and drawing every single things like i used to.
the UFO was actually light post i took a picture of at work, as well as the truck the aliens throw. I used photoshop, anime studio, still pictures, audio sound creation from fruity loops for the crepy sound, music from motorcycle rider whom I photographed to use in vid as well as pic.of my nephew as the driver of my car. in addition to the cartoon characters drawn of my students as well as their voices. real tough, but this is the dedication you have to make to become good at that you desire.. The best part of doing this project was collaborating with all my friends, youtube friends and cartooning students. They REALLY REALLY LOVED seeing their work in motion. and that is probally the real satisfaction I got out of this project. so thanks guys for the insight that I will surely use in my next one... I'M LISTENING!!! AND HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR, THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT OF YOUR BUSY DAY TO WATCH AND COMMENT, IT'S TRULY APPRECIATED
REGARDS,
MR. CHRIS

THANKS YOSEMITE,
your time and thoughts are truly appreciated. This 10 minutes of vid probally took me over a month from start to finish and over 60 hours worth of design, effort, photoshop, creating sound effects, taking pictures,re-doing mistakes etc. . it sure was a feat. a very frustrating, fun and exhausting one, you were right. glad you like it! Peace

thanks a bunch chucky for the insight and suggestion comment and taking time to check out my work. everytime I do these projects i learn more and more about animation, but one things for sure.. animation is tedious and painstaking to do but to progress you have to put in the work. there are close ups, wide shots and middles too, I used so many elements in this that it made my head hurt. I'm really tough on myself when it comes to art, checking, re-checking for mistakes and man did i find them and did them over. layers after layers after layers. If you noticed there's no heads blowing off and bloody guts flying all over the place. I'm not into all the gore, but this vid would have been the perfect opportunity for all that nasty stuff people like. thanks for your input, bro. I'll hit you up in 2013 when I start another one and let you guys check it out. and this time all action ,real short, to the point cause I dont want to be spending so much time like I did with this one trapped in front of this computer , Peace
