Smooth swtich layer transition...

Post by mightyrat »

I'm working on a full body action shot of man turning around... using switch layers for this. I have about 8 body poses in this switch layer. It works, but i don't like the nappy look. Is there a way to make the turn more smooth using switch layers? Thanks.

you can use the "interpolate" option on a switch IF (and, from what you say, it's likely to be a big IF) you have the same number of points in each of the switched layers. Then you have to understand that the system will move the points by the "shortest" route - so if you want a smooth turn it's likely that you'll need to do a number of intermediate positions to "help" the system work out the path that the points should take.... but by the time you've done this it's likely that you have enough intermediates that a "jump" transition is good enough....

Yup, what Hayasidist said. Also, this is assuming the child layers are vector. Interpolation won't work with any other type of layer.

If you used bone layers to build your views, one thing you can do to minimize the jumpiness from one view to another, is to pose your rig as close as possible to the switched view pose, if that makes sense. This is generally good enough.
