strange behavior of main window

Post by capricorn33 »

Anyone else having this problem?

Happens when you first maximize window and then try to restore it. Then it just sticks and keep on looking like that until I restart AS.

I think it looks like out of ram, I've seen this before when a lot of apps are open.

It only happens on one of my computers... seems to be something with the graphic card and its driver that messes AS up.

Anyone else running AS 8.01 on

- winXP sp3 32bit
- single and/or dual monitor geForce GTS 250.
- NVIDIA driver version 196.21

I did run AS 8 on very similar machine (single monitor, graph.card was bit older, and I remember the driver 196.21 was the same), but never had anything like this happening.

I looked on some forums (non english) and some were mentioning misbehavior of WinXP and it`s "Show window content while dragging" related with kind of similar issues.

Check it in RightClick on empty part of desktop/Appearance/Effects/"Show..."

Maybe out of video ram, since you run dual monitor.

How much does your card have?

Maestral, thanks for the tip!

I tried unchecking the "...while dragging window", but it's still happening...

I notice that this thing happens only when I doubleclick the titlebar, not when I'm clicking maximize- or restore buttons.
And the most regular way to get this error to occur is to put some other window on top, and then, while AS still is in the background, click on the titlebar. Then it explodes, everytime.... :-(

Gcharb, I have 512 mb on the graphics card,
3,25 GB system RAM, running AMD phenom II X4 955

I have no problem whatsoever running Maya 2011, for instance....

And actually I have been running single monitor now for a couple of weeks..... same thing.

There is a saying... If you don`t know what is it with you, then look for where it is ,)

In other words, try to place it in time... when it started to happen, and check what`s different then&now. SysRestore could tell you more about that, since it could be so many things.
