For animation i recommend The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams and for learning the program you can read the manual, tutorials or watch video tutorials and examples.

Start with the quick-start then the manual, some decent tutorials there.

Tons of tutorials on both forums as well to get you further and I have several on my blog.

As far as animating goes, as cucumihai mentioned, The Animator Survival Kit is very good, also the Disney Illusion of life is a great book and so is the Character animation crash course book.

Youtube has many great tutorials. Plus you can sometimes talk with the creator when you don't understand something. And if God doesn't answer, you can ask the person who made the Youtube video.
