Physics: My Balls Won't Budge :(

Post by LAS »

I'm losing my marballs here.

I have a wooden toy see-saw that tilts back and forth.

Little balls roll back and forth inside a little window in the base, as the toy tilts from side to side. (The springy flowers wobble back and forth also with bone dynamics).

I made a non-moving boundary of the window area to restrict the balls rolling to just within the window area.

I've tried different settings to try and get those balls rolling, and keep rolling as the toy goes from side to side, with a little success - only on the first tilt to one side (though with latest settings they hardly even do that). Once the toy tilts to the other side, the balls just stay in place.

I want to solve this challenge with physics rather than animating manually. It could be the way I've set it up, or the actual physics settings, I don't know.

I have uploaded the project file here if you want to have a play:

Thanks for any help![/img]

I had a quick look at your upload.
Here's what I managed:

I only spent 5 mins on it. There may be another way, but it looked ok.

I changed the 'boundary' as I don't think you can do that. And put in a nudge or two.
I've not found a way to make the physics work the way you wanted as I've also run into this problem, but the fake way looks ok I think.

Hope this helps.
