Multiple shapes one stroke???

Post by Poptoogi »

Hey AS forum!

Quick question for some of you more advanced users. I know you can create the effect of a single stroke around multiple objects in a group layer by taking the stokes off the objects and then turning on the shadow option and setting the offset and blur to 0 and expansion to at least 1 which is a pretty awesome trick but is there a way to achieve the same effect while still being able to see the stroke "or should I say shadow" on the stage? I thought by using some masking technique this could be done but I can't seem to figure it out. If this isn't something AS can do without using the shadow trick then that would be awesome but if it isn't, it would be a very welcome function to future versions of anime studio. I think it would probably render faster if this was an actual stroke and not a shadow. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated!! :)

1. Create your shapes with strokes only.
2. Use the paint bucket tool with the option of fill only.
3. Line width tool, as per usual, to thicken edges.

No probs.

When using the bucket fill tool, you may experience difficulty in trying to fill the correct shapes if you have many overlapping shapes. One tip is, if this is happening, use the translate tool to separate the shapes, fill, then move them back in place. Because of the way the effect works, when the shapes join, the outline disappears at the intersection. This also makes the effect animatable.
