I have really been struggling with exporting a video with a transparent background.
I found in this message board from previous posts that I can export into a video format with million colors + and the background will be transparent. That is, if I leave the default whitish gray background. I am not sure if this is true. I keep exporting videos in multiple formats and when I open it it has whitish gray background - not transparent. Am I doing something wrong?
I have also tried chroma key with a blue background but the video is not sharp enough to do the chroma key properly and I get chroma key spill.
I am trying to create an overlay to give to somebody for their online videos.
If it helps to see the file it can be found here:

Transparent background not working

That's pretty cool animation. You are right. You leave the default background. Export as a quicktime mov/png/millions of colors+. You can play with the quality slider to get the best mix of render and file size. I just rendered your scene this way and it came out right. Of course I dropped the blue background first.

When you open the video in quicktime you always see the background. The alpha is showed when you are on a video edition software like premiere or final cut.Kedric wrote:Okay, I just exported as a quicktime mov/png/millions of colors+ and it still did not work. I have a grey background.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Check this, open AS, draw a couple circles or whatever and then import your rendered video, you'll see there is no background on it.
