AS7: ColorGRadient finally with alpha?

Hi,
Just wondering. Is it possible in As7 to finally create a layer with a colorgradient that fades it to alpha to reveal some layers below it?

This workaround http://lostmarble.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9669 might be useful depending on what you're trying to do. A problem I've run into with this method is that the maximum size of the soft edge effect was too small for the area I needed to alpha gradient.
