Animating text (hand written effect)?

Post by cliaru »

Hello,

I am new to the forum and new to the field of animation in general. I am currently trying to get a project going and one of the things I have to accomplish is to make a short clip of animated text (hand-written effect) and put it over a video clip. I am trying to use Anime Studio 7 Pro. Originally, I thought this would be a simple task; I would type the text, erase the text from the end frame by frame, and reverse all the frames to get the effect. However, I am so lost and hopeless I don't even know where to begin. Any help from one of the experts out there would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

In version 7 it's much easier with the new curve exposure tool. Check on the tool bar.

I have tried the method, and while I see how useful it can be, I see a couple of potential problems.

1. If I use trail, I lose the details of the font, since I am basically brushing over the font. This font has fine details that makes it look like it was written with chalk.

2. If I use trail, I think I would have to do each letter at a time since the trail carries over to the next letter without a break.

If there is any get over these problems it would be awesome.
Thank you all for your help!

use a trail with a long continuous line - go over your first letter, then double back to the position of the 2nd letter - it doesn't matter if you go over the first letter again as that has already been masked. Do this across the entire word in one line then you can just animate the trail. To add 'pause' between words, rather than complicating the trail animation you could just loop the line over nothing before continuing. Once you use that as a mask you won't see it but there will be a short pause...

make sense?
