More useless animations by me. As I have about as much artistic skill as a peanut I think I might give up on Willy and the Fat Man and stick to what An engineer does best; work with shapes.

How can I make this spaceship's cockpit look like it has windows but not hinder outer space view too much. Ive tried white color at 10 % opacity and it looked too cloudy.
The image below is halo with halo only checked at 220 RGB, 10 inset radius, 20 radius blur(each window has its own shape to make the halo work right). The layer is at 20 % opacity.
To me it still doesn't look right. Looks like a frosted window at xmas time.
Any help is welcomed.
P.S. ignore the gauges, I'm still trying to decide if i want to draw them or import images.

sbtamu, Keep everything as you have and add a few 20% opacity Grey/Blueish, reflective/refractive, squiggly shapes that only partially obscure the view. ie if you were in a real aircraft etc , depending on how bright the interior illumination is, this would always be reflected in the windows, we just tend to focus through this.
I use thisDurand wrote:Yeh, that's kind of like it!...Hey maybe you can advise me on this , I,ve been trying to link an image to this post but have been unsuccessful. How is it done?

That's very convincing as glass. I've always wondered how to do that! :D The transparency of the reflection really adds a lot to the overall effect. The position and shape of the reflection may be a little off, though. I think it should be along the entire bottom edge of the window on the right just above the console. And the highest y-position of the reflection wouldn't be much higher than the highest y-position of the console itself.
I agree, the reflection needs moved. I went out to the car and observed the reflection in the passenger side window and got a pretty good idea now. I gave the reflection too much depth.lwaxana wrote:That's very convincing as glass. I've always wondered how to do that! The transparency of the reflection really adds a lot to the overall effect.
