MASTER BONE

Post by abou123 »

I found a great technique in AS, The Master Bone.
I actually found it on accident.

HOW TO:

1. Put all of character in a bone layer.
2. Make 1 bone, and 1 bone ONLY! In that new bone layer
3. Done, now just move or rotate that bone and all of the character will do the same!

What the master bone does is it allows you to move and/or rotate all of something at once, just a time saver

I see how this could be handy. A lot of people start their rig with a master bone so that you can move it around and change the character's angle without moving any of the body parts in relation to one another. If I'm understanding correctly, this technique puts the master bone in a separate layer and nests the regular bone layer inside of that layer. Is that right? I think it would have a similar effect to translating and rotating the layer of the character skeleton.

But this way you don't need to worry about selecting points.

You don't have to select points to rotate a layer. You just use the Layer Rotate tool. Having said that. I do know a few people who prefer to rotate objects via a bone. It's all good ;)
