Compiler Software

Post by Alexf »

Has anyone ever heard of a software that can compile multiple "Vector" images (side view of person, 3/4 view, full view, etc) and output a 3D body model that can be viewed at different angles?

I'm not sure if this is even possible....thanks.

I have a couple of these for faces -- and I've used other software in the past that tried to do it for other than faces (but it wasn't very successful).

The facial stuff works fairly well because, as difficult as the 3D human head is (and it IS difficult -- animators are always shocked by how hard it is to model a head convincingly) it's a fairly standard shape that can then be tailored by some images. Plus the features are standard and, finally, the mapping of the images onto the head goes a long ways toward completing the illusion.

All of this is done by moving points along the various views to match up eyes, mouth, nose, brows, etc. As I said, it works fairly well. But nothing else I've used (and they have been many attempts over the years) does this for any other shape successfully.

What you are talking about Alexf, basically is exactly what any 3D program does.
The way you stitch these vector lines together is what makes the 3D model.
There are apps that can attempt to do what you are calling "compiling", normally referred to as 'lofting' but this generally will only work acceptably with certain shapes.

So do a search for 3D animation and modelling software, there are many many out there some are free... like blender .

There is two programs that will take a small object and after taking 35 or so pictures will turn it into a CG object file with textures.

One is D sculptor
