group to bone layer shift

Post by arfa »

Being one more prone to tinkering - as opposed to knuckling down and getting some 'real work' done - I have been looking at the *anme file structure. I had an earlier post asking about point rotation and the answer was "bind to a bone" but... the object was in a group layer. I also recall heyvern waxing lyrical about the dubious usefulness of group folders.

Perhaps he was right. Dragging all those layers into a new bone layer and...

But, my first round of testing shows it to be a simple matter of renaming the layer type in the base *.anme file
layer_type 4 = a bone layer
layer_type 3 = a group layer
Change 3 to 4 and, awayyy we go. Yes?

There may be something I am missing.

That's pretty much it. The only way to change a group layer to a bone layer is by changing it in the source file. There's a lot of things you can do in the source file with a text editor.

more?

more?
pray tell...

I was wondering if it might be a way to resolve an earlier question of mine on adding in a block of empty keyframes, over the whole document.? I haven't given that much time to studying the file structure but imagine it is consistent enough to do such a thing. Perhaps too complex? I could have a go using PHP.
