layer ordering?

Post by t2ggergal »

I've been doing a simple cartoon, i have a layer that has grass and a tree on, and i've added another layer which has my man on it. I'm still drawing him, and i've drawn his legs but they have disappeared behind the grass!! How can i get the legs to stay above the grass??

Thanks

Hello T2

First of, your character layer has to be on top of the grass layer in the workspace, if it is, perhaps you put the legs on the grass layer by mistake, hard to tell without having a look at your AS file.

'Stay above the grass layer'??

It's usually better to do all of you construction before doing any animated layer ordering on frames >0. Better yet, put your character in a single group layer so that the whole thing can be layer sorted together. (and kept separate from your environment layers)

I am kind of new to AS, but as it is with any animation software, organisation is crucial. Create a group layer for your char, you could, as I did for my Monster , put group layers inside group layers, makes it ton easier to deal with a character project.

If your character stays on top of the grass but your legs disapeared, chances are you mixed it up somewhere, maybe shape order, or somethingelse.
