mother of all scripts

Post by oferhod »

I'm a happy costumer of ASP and use it almost without scripts. I find it so uncomfortable to find, understand and install them.
I would love to PAY even for a script that, in a single push button, will install all the scripts available... with a manual.

Thanks
I'm waiting for that link :)

actually you can't to install all the scripts around. first, because nobody knows exactly how many and where they all are. second, because there are scripts which are similar tools but with little different details. for example, you could have all the fazek's tools and lostmarble's tools together, but your tools window would be very big (and i think it would be huge if you have all the scripts around installed).

scripts are to make your own experience with AS more comfortable, so you must chose which script you want and which not. There are a lot of scripts I just don't need.

It's just like firefox extensions... you can't to have all of them and you don't need all either.

Anyway, I think that scripts really need to have a friendly installation interface and, of course, a place where you could find all of them with a description and examples, without going deep on the forum sea.

Yeah like Selgin says, there's never going to be a 'load all' kind of script.

I do have plans on writing a script that will make it easier to add and remove tools. It's pretty involved, so for now I'm getting some scripting practice on other things before I tackle it again.

Until then, you might find someone willing to make up a custom 'Scripts' folder for you. That way you could just rename the original folder and drop it in. But you're probably not going to find anyone willing to find and organize the script use info.

I'm planning on writing a "Using scripts in AS" book/article/compendium (not sure on the format yet) with script collected and explained. But it will take some time, there's plenty of other things to do on my list...
