V 6 still being developed?

Post by Dodgy »

Hiya,

This is a bit of an impertinent question, but the top ten feature list for AS 6 was started in april 2007, and now it's heading towards 2009, so is there any idea if this is still being done? I know 5.6 came out a few months ago, but I was hoping for news of a bit more forward progress.

You might want to do a forum search, as this topic came up a week or two ago.

Here's my take: don't hold your breath. If we see version 6.0 of AS before the next decade we'll be lucky folks indeed.

To put this in an historical perspective, the program's creator has never talked about new versions until they were very close to release, and after his last two bouts of "silence" we had 1) the e-frontier deal, and 2) version 5.6.

So there is no reason to be disenchanted with the current development process. I suspect the Top 10 list was introduced in a fever of marketing excitement from e-frontier when they took it over, and it was probably pretty useless since everyone's top 10 was different. :D

We've been here before, and then all of a sudden cool stuff happened.

I've been using ver 6.0 for a couple of days now, it basically does all the animation work for you, you just press a button and BAM. Project finished in seconds.

Jokes.

Oh yeah? Well I've got version 7.0 which does not even require you to press a button. It also prepares your favorite meal instantly upon login to your computer....provideing that you are happy with a Pop-Tart......lots and lots of Pop tarts. You see, regardless of what you want to eat it will always give you a pop-tart. You don't even get to choose which variety of pop-tart as it just randomly shoots out a brown sugar pop-tart. At least it is brand name though. I'm a brand name kinda guy. I mean I don't even drink TAB. It is either Pepsi or Coke for me.

Gee I can't wait till version 8.0. I heard you actually wear it like a pair of glasses. Yeah and you wear these cool gloves and move your hands around like Tom Cruise in Minority Report. They would release right now if it weren't for a few bugs. Well, just one really. As of now users become weightless during the render process. Now we can't have a bunch of animators just floating around everywhere! That would be ludicrous.

The "glasses" were dropped in version 8.0. Instead they are going with contact lenses that have sophisticated brain wave transmitters built in that send thought patterns directly to a wireless keyboard and a motorized mouse that runs around on your desk.

The main issues right now are the short battery life of the wireless motorized mouse and a few bugs related to garage door openers on the same frequency causing Windows to "close" unexpectedly.

It's not really "jam". The technical term is Self Aware Biogel®. You rub it on your head and it creates a biomechanical connection directly to the computer. It also cures dandruff and receding hairlines. Has a fresh minty smell too.

WOW, you guys are way behind. I'm on v20 beta and all I had to do was install it. Then I walked away from my pc while it created all the animations that everyone is sure to love. It even automatically sends the animations to top companies. So now I'm making the big bucks and enjoying my new beach house in Hawaii.

I'm sorry but I can't type much more. All this animation work is making me very tired. I think I'll take a nap in my hover bed. It feels like your sleeping on air. ;)

Oh yeah?

Moho Delux® v65.7 (they changed the name back with v35.6) goes back in time, creates the best animations BEFORE they are created by anyone else, then deposits the royalties in the bank so the money multiplies over the years before you were even born.

Of course I will use it to go back in time to destroy Mike Clifton and Lost Marble so I have the only copy. Pretty soon Disney won't exist and Micky Mouse will be the intellectual property of HEYVERN Productions.

After that I want to see what dinosaurs really looked like. And maybe get an autograph from Cesar*.

*Romero, not Julius.

EDIT: Makes no sense. Apparently Cesar Romero is still alive. I could get his autograph now.

EDIT: Never mind. Wrong Cesar Romero. I would have to back in time to get his autograph.

Well in an alternate timeline (whoohoo! we now have multiple timelines) I went and bonked Vern on the head and stole his copy of v65.7 (sorry Vern, but luckily you won't remember a thing). I used it to go to the future and picked up Mohanimo v227.4 (yes, yet another name change somewhere around v100).

Now for the bad news. It has a new create universe button, and well....I pressed it. You are all now part of my ongoing animation series, and I'm collecting royalties on all of your work.

Sorry but some of you didn't actually exist in the original universe, and some I left out of this one. :P

Sorry guys. It's all over.

Apparently I used my new version to restart the big bang in an alternate time line which created this one. No one should notice any changes except for the occasional deja vu, losing your car keys once in a while and a missing sock when doing laundry... and maybe some computer crashes.

Pretty sad really. In the ORIGINAL time line Vista worked really well and everyone loved it from the start.
