Post by Xper »

Hi, My name is Kenny

I need a 2D Animator that can do stuff like BeyBlade/B-Daman because I want to create a entire new B-Daman cartoon, The money is tight these days so I can't do money but the creator of my cartoon will take credit for the cartoon.

Mmm, awful nice gesture. Get credit for doing 90% of the work. Who could pass that up?

Sorry, no. Just sarcastically pointing out the lack of motivation for anyone to volunteer. Now perhaps if you've already done all of the prep work, it may be a light enough project to gain some 'get experience' interest.

As prep work I mean scripts written, storyboards sketched out, characters designed, background art, music and voice tracks ready, and for voluteer work I'd even half expect characters already finished and split up by layers with alpha.

If you have none of these, you are actually looking for a writer, background artist, voice talent, and animator minimum.

A single animator won't be able to do all of this. You're looking for more than just a single animator for this, you are looking for a small studio or animation team. and that's at the very least. creating an entire episode of animated material is a significant undertaking.

The budget for shows like this generally begin at about $200,000 and that's only considering production costs.

I have experience working on shows very similar to the ones you mentioned, also I currently work at a small studio that could make it for you. but for free... well, I wish you luck.

$200,000 give or take. that would be something that would need to be negotiated.

I don't know if it only happens here because ASP is advertised as being an easy and fast animation solution, but people often seem to underestimate the talent, skill, and workload required to do any animation.

then you're going to have a hard time getting your cartoon made. If your really serious about it, you should put together a pitch book and try to find yourself some investors.

it happens all the time with any type of animation. The best we can do is just politely tell it like it is.

On the same note, every time I heart "can't you just do it in flash" a little part of me dies inside. :(

Yeah, I'm not a flash fan either. And welcome to the forum Bagels.

Xper, if you have any artistic talent, you might as well find an animation software you like and start learning. With enough determination you can even overcome an artistic inability. I guess the point is, how can you expect anyone to volunteer if you don't show that you are willing to put in the effort as well.

Everyone seems to want to just jump into the PM (produce manager) seat. Hey, why not? I've got a great idea for an animated series. All I need is an animation studio, and oh yeah, they'll need to bear the expense of production, but it will still be my project.

I just hope that no one steals my idea.

By the way, Xper, have you looked into getting the rights to make a series using someone elses copyrighted work? There's a lot to think about.

The bigger problem you have is creating an animation based on copyrighted characters. You couldn't get "investors" because there will be no way to sell it without the rights to the characters.

This is a "fan" type project. Your best bet is to find other fans who are interested in working with you on this just for fun. There will be no money made from this.
