WOW! 3D in Anime Studio

Post by rplate »

WOW! This is really fantastic! Look at this picture with red and blue glasses.
By changing the Z depth, ( I type it in) I can change the depth of portions of my 3D picture.
The 3 butterflies are all the same image import on layers and with different Z depth
levels and reversed images. After setting the Z depth I then re-scale the images to the size I want them to be.
The rescaling doesn't effect the depth of the 3D illusion.
I realize some of you looking at this don't have red and blue glasses and can't really appreciate this feature. Sorry. :(

Click here for free 3D glasses or do a search in google for 3D glasses.

PS: You can print your pictures in 3D. :D :D
Thanks again, Genete for pointing this out to me. What would we ever do without you. 8)

OBTW does anybody have these glasses? And is this of interest to anybody? Human started all this with his link to "3D is now open" and I've had a lot of fun with it.

I have been a big fan of 3D for many years. Some years ago I bought a "life time supply" of 3D glasses... like 50 pairs of the cheap cardboard ones because I kept losing them.

I have a 1950's antique Kodak 3D camera I bought a very long time ago at a camera "expo". Dang thing cost $150. I had to pay another $30 at another booth for the matching instruction manual (lucky find that was). I use 35mm color slide film. it takes approximately 3 pictures for every 2 normal sized 35mm images. Every other photo is a stereo pair, vertical format instead of horizontal. I have to cut the slide film myself and mount them in special holders for my viewer. One stupid idiotic processing lab cut and mounted a roll of slides after I explicitly told them NOT to and ruined them. Have to be very careful... write on the thing in big red letters with a sharpie and make threats about legal action. ;)

My "3D" 3D camera

I think my sister is one of the few people with a wedding album in 3D. ;)

I would like to see Mike add a true stereo output to this feature - I love 3D but was never keen on anaglyphics - gives me headaches.

The other option would be to script a L-R camera - the it would be possible to render L then R passes and recombine in a utility. Ideally, the best technique is to use one centred camera for the preparation then use a - left offset / + Right offset, to generate the stereo pairs. The camera need to be kept parallel otherwise the nasty divergence occurs.

Was there something special about her which needed the third dimension? *fg*

:) No. It was NOT a shotgun wedding... and she is a petite woman... with an average bust line... what other physical attribute might be considered worthy of 3D...

... she doesn't have a large nose... but her dress was very "poofy".

The funniest part of that day was getting the wedding party to do "3D" stuff. like stand on one leg in staggered groups with their arms and one leg stretched out towards the camera. They thought I was nuts but went along with it. The best photo was the groom holding the bride in his arms in a huge field of grass with trees in the background. I printed that in red/blue 3D for the cover of the album. The other photos were slides. I gave them a battery powered lighted 3D viewer.

I never liked 3D. It gave me eye strain. But now, since the vision in my left eye is so bad, I can't even see 3D any more.

I love 3D! That was even one of the perks of buying Moho. First thing I did with Moho was render out "Landscape" in 3D at 720p. I even made a 3D swf awhile back, http://flashpulse.com/koolmoves/anaglyph.html . I would like to see more 3D animations done in AS! ;)

Oh, and I'm using my SharkBoy & LavaGirl 3D glasses, lol.

Here's the 3D Site that does various kinds of 3D outputs. All for FREE, software.
Here's a sample of the crossed view stereo:

Now then if you stare at the middle you should soon see a three dimensional
view of the picture in the middle of the two pictures. Ha! Isn't this fun?

Sorry, Fiziwig blind guys can't play.

After looking at Vern's fantastic work I thought I should let you see a 3D view of one, as a crossed? Or is that parallel? Or crossed? I don't know.
I just know if I put my nose up close until I see the photo blend and then move back into focus it looks 3D to me. What kind of 3D is it?

Here's a "real" stereo image for one of the Hash image contests. I came in 3rd or 4th I think:

WHOA!! Awesome, Vern!
Is there any contest you haven't been in and won? Except, of course, Anime Studio?
You're just an amazingly talented guy.

Sorry about hijacking the thread. ;)

I am working on an Anime Studio 3D sample using layer rotation! Very cool! It works great. For instance if you rotate a "ground" layer you can put other drawn layers at different Z positions to create simple 3D scenes.

A rotated layer will render with "real" 3D perspective. The sample with AS of the trees with rotated layers and that funny guy standing in it will render in 3D. Plus the other examples of 3D objects created by layer rotation (the toy block cube example) will render 3D.

It would be great if there was a small ongoing "contest" here. Doesn't have to have any big prizes... just the "honor" of winning. Hash has generated a ton of content with their contest.

I've never won the Hash A:M contest. For years I've tried but I can't get past 3rd place... the talent over there is amazing and I only do 1 or 2 each year and I always enter the most popular "topics" (usually "Mechanical" or "Sci-fi"). Of course I do some very "odd" and "funny" subjects that might go over people's heads when they vote.

I have a whole stack of the small 3rd place plaques but no first place "trophies"... yet. I keep trying. ;)

I do however have the honor of having one of my contest entries on the cover of the A:M box! A 3D portrait of Dave Bowman and HAL. I was shocked when I saw their new box at a trade show and there it was in the montage of samples. I had no idea. You only get the box the first time you purchase.

Yeehaa!

This is fun! And easy... relatively. Each "flat" side should be its own layer rotated into position. I kind of did it in a silly way by having 4 layers for the vertical lines. Could have just used two layers so the total number of layers needed if done "correctly" would be 4, top bottom, sides.

You can change the stereo "depth" in project settings but it can't be animated. Unfortunate.

Hey all,
I'm having fun too. Here's a 3D movie of a bowler. The bowler is a background MOVIE I made from Poser. The yellow circle is a vector in Amime Studio.
The bowling ball is also a vector drawing in Anime Studio synchronized to match the hand movements of the bowler MOVIE.
I also animated the Z depth of the movie layer so it protruded further and further out of the scene as the bowler came forward. As well as the bowling ball.
Some fun. A new dimension of fun. Pun intended.
