Importing Flash Drawing to Anime Studio without the pain

Post by temujin143 »

Different folks different strokes.

Some guys are fantastic drawing by molding shapes, pushing lines, and arranging points.

AS has fantastic tools if you prefer to draw this way. And I believe everybody should learn them.

Some guys like to sketch and scribble. AS will also allow you to do this.

Just set your display to Preview then sketch to your heart's content.

But then you might prefer to use some software that you might find better built for scribbling than AS.

I find that Flash is one of these software.

However when you import your artwork from Flash via Illustrator export, you find yourself with a horrible drawing with huge amounts of point.

and this is simply not manageable when you're animating.

But there is a way you can reduce these points in Flash while your drawing.

1. Sketch using the pencil tool
2. After you have finished sketching clean up the drawing by creating another layer.
3. In the new layer, use the line tool exclusively. Use the push and pull method when tracing.
4. Remember never to fill your drawing and you should make sure that there are no hidden fills in your cleanup layer.
5. Delete the sketch layer.
6. Export to Adobe Illustrator format.
7. Load into AS

There you have it. Of course you still have to tweek this drawing so that it will bend properly when you add bones.

But atleast you now have a drawing with very few points.
