Switch layers disappearing??

Post by scrobble »

I can't seem to figure this one out on my own, so maybe one of you guys have an idea.

I'm creating a character with a front view and side view, and all seemed to work fine until I made a switch layer with mouth shapes for my side view. When it's on the 0 frame, the mouth shows up, but if I change it to any other frame, the mouth mysteriously disappears. I then tried creating a new switch layer under my side view, but the same thing happens. Whatever I draw will show up and can be changed in the 0 frame, but then the whole entire switch layer seems to disappear if i change the frame to anything else.

Also, when I try changing the selected item in the mouth switch in frame 1 for example, the blue dot will show up on the timeline, but the mouth is completely gone.

I then tried moving the side view mouth layer to the front view character...and it works in all the frames again!

To make things even more confusing, I also have a switch layer for eyes and hands in the side view, but they work fine. It's just all the new switch layers I try creating don't work.

Changing the name of the switch layer doesn't do anything either, so it's not a problem of two layers having the same name.

To give you an idea how I have my character set up:

Switch Layer: Character
 Group: Front
  Bones: Front Bones
   Switch: Mouth
   Switch: Eyes
   Various Vector Layers
 Group: Side
  Bones: Side Bones
   Broken Switch: Mouth
   Switch: Eyes
   Various Vector Layers

Just to update,

I tried moving everything into a new bone layer, and for some reason it seems to be working now....I checked all the properties of the old bone, and they appear to be identical to the new one I made. I even tried deleting all animation from the document, but it only seems to work when I make a new bone layer and just transfer everything into it....now I gotta redo all the bindings....

any idea what's going on?

Okay, just as I was about to go to sleep, it popped in my head.
I had to bind the mouth to the bone in the head! And now it works :D lol I solved my own question
