render stutters

Post by aratunes »

Hi, i'm running XP , anime 7 debut and am trying to render some small scenes (1000) frames with image layer animation. Not finding it in the forum, but happy to be pointed in the right direction: any tips for preventing "stuttering" in final render. I have tried QT 264, avi, and lastly uncompressed. But images are not moving as smooth as they should, they have slight jerks. Are there computer/RAM issues? should I dump temp bin? do you have any thoughts on how to improve render quality? thank you Ara

It is a bitrate problem.
Too high for your pc, if you render uncompressed it will be surely enormous. Anyway even if you tried a compression it is probable still too high. Try to edit the uncompressed file in an external video editor to set a maximum bitrate, bitrate limit in the compression options seems doesn't work very well in AS (at least with me) so I not recommend you. Bitrate setting depends on the final destination of your video (format and transmission). Check these I found somewhere on the net:
Source/service CODEC Resolution Bit-rate

Blu-ray H.264 or MPEG2 1920×1080 1080i/p 40

HD DVD H.264 or VC-1 1920×1080 1080i/p 28

Apple iTunes QuickTime/H.264 1280×720 720p 4

Web “HD” downloads H.264 1280×720 720p 1.5

DVD MPEG2 720×480 480i 8

I also get this "stuttering." I get this because my computer isn't fast enough. When I render a project and import it to editor I have to trust myself when doing editing.

You can get around this by scrubbing through the time line in you editor and find the "spots" that you want to cut out. After you splice the scene the way you want and after you render it via your editor, the stuttering wont be there.

Hi thanks for the help, I'll try to see how your suggestions work for me. I'm a musician just looking to make a video for a song, so I don't think I need anything more high quality than the ability to have it on youtube. I am importing it into vegas studio plat 9. Uolter it sounds like you are saying I can open the file there and then do the rendering, with out exporting it there? sbtamu: this is a lot of little stutters I'll have to see if its worth the time to scrub and edit in that detail. May be. Thanks Ara

Export the anime studio file as avi or mov uncompressed and then open and compress it with vegas, if you care a lot about music, add it directly on vegas and not in anime studio so you can choose additional settings and keep a better quality. What's your project size?

Sometimes it happens when you yse certain players.
I have the same problem with Media Player Classic when I render uncompressed. When I use Windows Media Player, the video go well.

re stutter render

yes, I'm animating with a music track, but then I dump it prior to render because I'm going to put it in when in the final edit in vegas. I'm not sure how to get at project size?

That's a bad error. The first thing you have to do when starting a new project is to set your size in the file menu and possibly never change it once you start working with it. Anyway, now check your size, adjust it as you want and let us know.
