UPDATED VERSION of the NRAnimation workflow. See original for comparison here.
So, instead of a "stepped" workflow like last time, I add some inbetweens in the layout pass so I can get a better feel for the timing.
It saves time and really helps the animators "plus" the animation. They take the keys, drag them out, and add little head, arm, and body movements, anticipation, squash/stretch in the body, "within" the key poses.
Here's the current version of that workflow:

It's basically the same workflow, but with some inbeweens. I think it works a lot better and it helps my other animator and I ANIMATE the scenes instead of merely inbetweening stepped keys.
The NRAnimation Official Animation Workflow:
We start off usually with really rough crappy looking "thumbnail" storyboards on paper (not shown here) then we take those and then create an animatic using the animate-able models we've put together in Anime Studio.
All of the key poses and rough timing is put in so the animators have a starting point instead of just working with a blank scene. It's a very similar process to what a show like The Simpsons or Futurama does (see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6jhJhmw2u4 ) only this is done in Anime Studio instead of drawn by hand.
It's a great way to maintain some consistency when you are working with multiple animators like I am.
If you have any questions we'll be happy to answer them.
